Plans for the Weekend

It’s the weekend once again and I can’t believe that it’s already the last weekend of February. Before we know it, another school year is over for the kids and of course, it means vacation time for them. So, what are your plans for the weekend? Whatever your plans are, I hope you’ll get to spend as much quality time as you can with your family (and also get as much as rest as you need after that hectic week at work).

Our family is particularly excited because we are going on a trip this week; it’ll be some sort of a reunion for us. Our youngest brother, who has been working overseas for the past two years, is here on a one month vacation and he has decided to treat the whole family to a three-day vacation to the beach. It’ll actually be the first time that we’re going on a trip as a family so we’re really looking forward to it not just because we are going to a world famous tourist destination but mostly because of the opportunity to spend time together as a family. This weekend will be about preparing everything that we will need and making sure that we will not forget anything especially our travel documents. Although our kids will prepare their own stuff, I will be double checking  them to make sure that they will bring only what’s necessary and that they wouldn’t forget any of their personal stuff. Knowing them, I’m sure they will only start packing a day or two before our trip. They are mostly likely to spend their Saturday playing video games (since they are only allowed to use their XBox during weekends) or surfing online (probably chatting with their friends on Facebook, watching the latest movie trailers online or browsing online to look for items that interest them like the excellent epiphone electric acoustic guitar that they saw at an online music store).

Anyway, I hope that however you decide to spend your weekend, I hope you get to spend it with the people that matter most to you.

Birthdays in July

July is a special month for our family because there are a lot of family members who celebrate their birthday during this month. My son turned 12 last July 7, my nephew turned 18 last July 18, my two sisters-in law also celebrated their birthday last week while my father will celebrate his birthday two days from now.

Last Sunday’s Family Day was extra special since we celebrated the birthdays of my son, my nephew and my father. My brother invited us to lunch then we watched a movie afterwards. I didn’t have time to take pictures of what we had for lunch since we were a bit pressed for time. We had to finish lunch in time for the screening of the movie. Lunch was great and we truly enjoyed it.

After the movie, we strolled around a bit then we had halo-halo for merienda.

Here are some of the photos of my sons and nephew:

A Mother’s Day Weekend

I realized that I haven’t posted here in a while. A lot has been going on these past few days (good things though, don’t worry). It’s seems this month is turning out great so far and I’m praying that the blessings continue to pour.

So, what have we been up to these past few days ? Summer vacation for the kids is synonymous to sleeping late and waking up late. No matter how I try to make them sleep at the usual time, they always seem to find an excuse not to do so. At times they would just go to their room, listen to the radio and talk endlessly (which usually lasts past 11p.m.). Breakfast for them is at 10a.m. That’s why lunch for us is around 1p.m.

May is also my birthday month. I celebrated my birthday a few days ago. No big birthday celebration for me though, just a simple lunch with my family. I was really overwhelmed by the number of birthday greetings that were posted on my fb wall. Friends, family members, former classmates and batch mates, acquaintances, online friends, fellow mommies from PMC, have all conveyed their birthday wishes. Thank you so much everyone !

I have mentioned on my other blog that I want to put up yet another blog. This time, it’s going to be an arts/craft/hobby blog. Hubby has a huge stamp and coin collection and we wanted a venue to showcase this collection. Also, I have taken up a new hobby: postcard collecting. I have just purchased a couple of postcards and this week I am going to start sending them to fellow postcard collectors (mommies from PMC). Now here comes the good news (for me a least…lol) : I now have a new arts/craft/hobby blog ! It’s courtesy of the ever gracious Mommy Rubz. It’s a blog with domain and free hosting (it doesn’t get better than that, does it?). Thanks again, Mommy Rubz !!! I’ll be working on it in the coming days and hopefully, it’ll be up very soon. I hope you’ll get to visit it,too.

Another special Mother’s Day gift is the card I received from a fellow mommy from PMC. It was a handmade card (made by her daughter) which came with a few tokens. I will make a separate post about it on my other blog.

A new blog, a Mother’s Day card, a new hobby, a free book from BookSneeze, additional writing opportunities, a relaxing rainy day weekend with my family…. this is indeed a great Mother’s Day weekend for me.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the loving and selfless moms out there !!

God bless you and your families !!
