Using the Proper Shaving Products

Whenever we do our weekly grocery shopping, I make sure that I have a list of everything that we need around the house so that I won’t forget anything. Aside from food items, I also make sure that we have enough stock of hygiene essentials such as soaps, shampoo, toothpaste and even the shaving products that my husband uses. I was arranging our bathroom cabinet the other day when I jokingly told my husband that soon we’ll be buying more shaving products than usual because in a few years time, our eldest may also need to have his own set of shaving tools.

My husband has actually tried a number of shaving accessories and products over the years and although he tries new products from time to time, there are still some shaving products that he prefers to use. A sharp quality razor is on the top of his list. He says that although cheap disposable razors provide decent results at first, they easily get blunt. Buying one from time to time can be very costly compared to buying a quality razor that has a sharp blade. Using blunt razor only increases the possibility of getting nicks and cuts because you end up using more pressure that usual just to have that close shave that you want. You also end up stretching your skin too much and this may lead to skin irritation. It may also cause ingrown hair which can become very unsightly. Facial cleanser is important so that the grime and oil that may have accumulated on the face will be removed before shaving. An aftershave and a moisturizer are also important so that your skin will remain smooth after you shave.

It may seem that shaving is a long arduous process but you just have to remember that in order for you to get that clean close shave every time and protect your skin, you really have to make an effort to invest in the right shaving tools and of course, spend as much time as you need when you shave. Choose shaving products that are made from natural ingredients so that your skin will not react negatively to whatever products you may use on your face. If you have highly sensitive skin, you may want to consult your dermatologist so that you’ll know which products are suitable for you. There are a number of skin care and shaving products that are available in most commercial stores. You can choose the ones are suitable for you.

Importance of Using the Right Shaving Tools

Razor burns, ingrown hairs, razor bumps, cuts and skin irritation are just of the shaving problems that most men are familiar with. Since shaving is part of their regular grooming regimen, they know how these common shaving problems can cause discomfort. My husband says that razor bumps or ingrown hairs are not only unsightly but are embarrassing to have as well. He said that there should be a brotherhood of shaving so that those who are experts in shaving can share their shaving tips and techniques to those who are still trying to learn the proper shaving technique.

To avoid these common shaving problems and to get that perfect shave every time, using the right shaving tools is important. A sharp quality razor is an important tool that men should invest in. Although disposable razors are cheaper and are readily available, a quality razor still provides a clean close shave. Cheap razors have blades that easily get blunt. When you shave using blunt razors, you end up getting cuts and razor burns because you have to use more pressure just to get that close shave. To avoid skin irritations, using facial cleansers and moisturizers should also be a part of your shaving routine. Using a facial cleanser before shaving can remove the dirt and grime that may have accumulated on your face. It also helps prepare the skin and soften your facial hair. Using a moisturizer is also important so that your skin can remain soft and smooth even if you have to shave regularly. It is important, however, that you use only products that do not contain any harmful chemicals that may cause skin irritation. My husband has sensitive skin which is why he makes sure that the only uses shaving creams and lotions that have natural ingredients. His face will immediately show signs of irritation when he uses products that have harmful chemicals. He has actually made it a habit of reading the product labels first before buying them. He knows that with the proper shaving tools and skin care products, he will not only get that clean close shave every time, but he will also have a skin that is free from irritation.

Important Shaving Tools

Shaving is a part of my husband’s grooming ritual. He is actually very particular about the products that he uses when he shaves because he wants to avoid the many problems that come with not shaving properly and in using the wrong shaving products. He knows too well what it’s like to deal with nicks and cuts and razor burns. It’s embarrassing to walk around with cuts on your face or with your face showing signs of skin irritation. He said that having nicks and cuts is usually a result of using dull razors and of not knowing the proper shaving technique. He said he was among those who use disposable razors because they are cheaper and are readily available. But he said he was always disappointed with the results because they usually produce an uneven shave and he usually gets cuts because he has to stretch his skin and use more pressure on the razor just to get the clean close shave he wants. These days, though, a quality razor is an essential part of his shaving kit. Although it costs more, it delivers the best results and does not easily get dull. It also offers a firmer grip which allows him to shave properly. He also understands the importance of using the right products such as a facial wash, an aftershave, moisturizer and shaving cream. He uses the facial wash to remove the dirt and grime that may have accumulated on his face. If dirt is not removed, it may penetrate the pores of the skin as one shaves. This may cause skin irritation. Another essential product that he uses is the shaving cream. The shaving cream prepares the skin and lubricates the razor as it glides across the face. It softens the skin and this reduces the friction between the razor blades and the skin. A moisturizer is also important because it hydrates the skin after shaving. It helps keeps the skin on the face smooth and supple. You are most likely to have a perfect shave every time if you keep your skin healthy and moisturized.

And since my husband has sensitive skin, he makes sure that the shaving creams and moisturizers that he uses only contain natural ingredients. He makes sure that they not have harmful chemicals that can harm and irritate his skin.
