Proclamation 265: October 31, 2011 is a Special Non-Working Day in the Philippines

Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III has just signed Proclamation 265, s.2011, declaring Monday, October 31, 2011 as a special non-working day throughout the Philippines.

Since October 31, 2011 falls on a Monday, between Sunday and Tuesday, November 1, 2011 (which has been traditionally declared as a special (non working) day, it has also been declared as a special (non working) holiday to give the Filipino people the opportunity to fully observe All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. During this holiday, people usually go back to their hometown to visit cemeteries and pay their respects to their loved ones who have passed away.
